After class

I love winter. But I'll admit it's been a bit nippy here lately. Here was the temp when I got out of my class in Mason City Wednesday night:

My class is a blended model of instruction: some face-to-face meetings and the rest online. In this kind of weather, that means fewer long drives through blowing snow for me and my students and fewer frozen noses. We can cozy up inside our warm homes and yet still learn from each other... Awesome!

Over the last few years, I added two endorsements to my masters degree. All these classes were online...I learned as much, if not more, from these classes than the "traditional" sort.

With the blended classroom, I think you can answer some of the Kaplan U questions raised in your previous post. This is an opportunity (if taught well) to take advantage of learning options and yet hold accountability and social skills as a cornerstone of that learning.

I think the blended class is perfect. It allows for a personal connection to be made and then continued through online communication. It addresses the concerns I have with oversight and I agree that there are definitely advantages to less windshield time in the weather we have been having lately.
